About
As the 14th episode of season 2 of Friends, The One With the Prom Video gives us an early look at Ross' affection for Rachel. The main focus of the episode is a video of Rachel & Monica getting ready for the prom, which is unearthed when Monica's parents drop off a box of her belongings they found while cleaning. In the video, we find out that Rachel had a much larger nose back then and had to have rhinoplasty done to fix the problem. We also see how fat Monica really was in high school. While getting ready for that night, news gets to Rachel that her date hasn't shown up. Jack, Ross & Monica's dad, suggests to Ross that he take Rachel to the prom. He decides that he will. After changing, he comes down the stairs only to find out that Chip, Rachel's date, has finally made it and the two couples leave for the prom, breaking Ross' heart and confidence. Rachel sees this for the first time in the tape and walks over to Ross by the door and starts to passionately kiss him, ultimately forgiving him for making "the list." Phoebe clamors over their reunion and states, "See? He's her lobster!"
This episode's side story centers around Chandler, Joey, and the bracelet. Joey decides that he can start paying Chandler back for all of the things he's done over the years and how he's supported his acting career. While Chandler welcomes the money, he is less than thrilled when Joey hands him a gaudy gold bracelet. When the bracelet repels a woman away when he tries to flirt with her, Chandler makes fun of the bracelet, not knowing that Joey is standing right behind him. When Chandler loses the bracelet, he buys an exact duplicate since he wants Joey to know how much it means to him. Rachel surprises Chandler when she finds the original in the coffeehouse, but he uses it to regain Joey's trust and friendship by giving it to him, seeing as how they're "Best Buds."
